We are so pleased to be part of the first ever Salmonberry Festival with Greenways Land Trust. We are offering a workshop / walk into the Museum’s Native Garden, led by biologist Luna Loiseau-Tremblay. Pariticipants will discover how to successfully incorporate native plants into their garden and cultivate a diverse natural landscape.
Native plants offer a range of benefits. They are well-adapted to local conditions, often drought-resistant, and play a vital role in supporting biodiversity and our native pollinator species. Participants will learn practical tips and insights on gardening with native species.
Open to everyone and takes place on May 5 at 12:30 pm. Registration is just $5 (pay at the workshop).

"“Reliable #publictransit to the #foodbank would greatly reduce barriers for vulnerable community members, including low-income individuals, seniors, people with disabilities, and families who are already struggling to meet basic needs,” wrote Kindy in the letter to the city.
Campbell River Food Bank's executive director, Joanne Watson, says the request is long overdue as many of the food bank’s clients don’t have access to a vehicle and must rely on public transit to pick up their food.
The food bank plays an important role in helping people to prioritize paying rent over food purchases, helping to keep residents housed during difficult economic times, she told the Mirror.
The thousands of clients served by the food bank – comprising both single individuals and families – frequently need to carry large suitcases filled food as they walk the four blocks to catch the bus on 16th Avenue, Watson said.
“You can’t carry the food in bags, they are too heavy,” said Watson."
